- Amendment sought to require each institution of higher education that receives Federal funds to provide to the Office for Civil Rights of the Department of Education a report regarding its students admissions process beginning with a statement of whether race, color, or national origin is given any weight in the student admissions process.
- Purpose
- An amendment numbered 4 printed in House Report 109-401 to require institutions that receive any federal funding whatsoever (including grants and scholarships) to submit to the U.S. Department of Education an annual report answering two questions. First, the report must state whether race, color, or national origin is considered in the student admissions process. If race, color, or national origin is considered in the student admissions process, then the report must contain a subsequent analysis of how these factors are considered in the process.
