Amendment103rd Congress
Amendment: (1) requires the Department of the Interior, in consultation with the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe and relevant Federal agencies, to conduct a study to identify lands suitable for a reservation for the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe that are located within the Tribe's aboriginal homeland area; and (2) allows the Secretary of the Interior to withhold from the required list of surplus lands, particular surplus parcels that are within or contiguous to the exterior boundary of existing tribal trust lands. \ As amended by the Miller (CA) amendments (A025), language was added to clarify that the Secretary of the Interior has discretionary authority to exclude from the negotiated exchanges lands which may be adjacent to tribal trust lands.
