- Description
- Amendment sought to limit the authorization for development of the Presidio to the amount authorized in the 1972 law that established the Golden Gate National Recreation Area; authorize $25 million in FY 1995 for management of the lands and facilities within the Presidio; and require that beginning in FY 1996, any funds appropriated for management of visitor programs or development of visitor facilities at the Presidio must be matched by non-federal entities on a 1-to-1 basis.
- Purpose
- An amendment to limit the authorization for development of the Presidio to the amount provided for the development of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) in the 1972 law that established the recreation area. That law limited the authorization of appropriations for development of the GGNRA to $58 million, of which approximately $8 million has already been used. The amendment also requires that beginning in FY 1996, any funds appropriated for management of visitor programs or development of visitor facilities at the Presidio must be matched by non-federal entities on a 1-to-1 basis. Finally, the amendment bars appropriations for the operation or development of any facilities at the Presidio which are not directly related to administration of the GGNRA or general public use programs.
