- Amendment sought to provide fiscal year 1995 new budget authority of $1,528.9 billion; budget outlays of $1,513.5 billion; budget revenues of $1,340 billion; and a budget deficit of $173.5 billion.
- Purpose
- An amendment in the nature of a substitute to reduce defense budget authority by $16.8 billion and defense outlays by $9.0 billion in FY 1995. Over 5 years the proposed reductions in defense budget authority and outlays total $175.1 billion and $125.3 billion, respectively. The substitute proposes to shift these funds to such domestic programs as education, job training, crime prevention, and veterans programs. The substitute assumes enactment of a tax on assault weapons, handguns, and ammunition.
