- Amendment requires that tobacco be included with alcohol and illegal drugs in the drug prevention programs authorized by the bill.
- Purpose
- An amendment to add language to the "findings" section of the Safe and Drug-Free Schools program dealing with the use of tobacco. The language proposed to be inserted seeks to demonstrate the widespread and early use of tobacco by children as well as to explain the risk of addiction to smoking resulting from ingestion of nicotine. Finally, the amendment seeks to provide education and information on the risks of tobacco use and make it available to children and families.
