- Amendment, as modified, requires that in awarding grants, consideration be given to States that have a law or policy which punishes juveniles upon conviction of a crime involving the use of a firearm or weapon on school property.
- Purpose
- An amendment, as modified, to specify that, in the awarding of grants in the bill, special consideration shall be given to states and local governments which: 1. Punish any student caught with a firearm by revocation of their drivers license and suspension from school for at least 10 days; 2. bans handguns and other weapons within 100 yards of a school; and 3. requires mandatory sentencing for gun-related crimes at or near a school.
