Purpose
An amendment comprised of two amendments offered en bloc to require the Interior Department to report to Congress annually on the percentage of hardrock mining claims held by foreign firms; to provide that funds appropriated under the bill may be expended only if the party expending the funds agrees to comply with the Buy American Act; to express the sense of Congress that assistance provided under the bill should be used only to purchase American-made equipment and products, and require that recipients of assistance receive a notice describing this sense of Congress; and, finally to prohibit the use of funds provided under the bill to contract with any entity which has been found to have made fraudulent use of a "Made in America" label or description.
