- Amendment requires States to enact personal liability protection for national service program participants. \ As amended by the Bryant amendment (A013), language was added which requires States to impose certain conditions and exceptions in the granting of liability protection.
- Purpose
- An amendment to permit states participating in the national service program to enact liability protection for national service participants and volunteers in non-profit organizations. Under the amendment, participants in the program and volunteers would be exempt from personal financial liability for any tort claim, if they were acting in good faith within the scope of their duties, and the damage or injury was not caused by willful or wanton misconduct by the participant.
