- Amendment sought to reduce the appropriation for allowances and office staff for former Presidents by $1.4 million.
- Purpose
- An amendment to delete $1.6 million in appropriations from the bill by eliminating funding for staff and office allowances for all former Presidents after five years of retirement from office, effective immediately. The effect of the amendment would be to eliminate staff an office allowances for all former Presidents with the exception of Presidents Reagan and Bush. Pensions and Secret Service funds would not be affected.
