- Description
- Amendment makes technical and conforming changes in the Fastener Quality Act.

- An amendment which makes changes in the Fastener Quality Act, an Act which defines fasteners as industrial nuts, screws, bolts and rivets. The amendment makes technical changes in the definition of "standards" and "specifications" in current law in order to include written industry standards relating to "minor non-conformance". ("Minor non-conformance" does not affect the form, fit or function of the fastener in its intended use.) The amendment also allows the use of chemistry test certificates from steel mills that produce the metal to demonstrate a fastener lot's conformity with proper standards. The amendment does not include any changes to current law regarding "commingling" (selling fasteners from different lots togetner) or "traceability" (including the lot numbers when selling fasteners to end users).
