- Amendment as modified provides that agriculture transporters will continue to be exempt from hours of service requirements when operating within a 100-mile radius of their point of origin during the planting and harvesting seasons of the year.
- Purpose
- An amendment numbered 18 printed in part B of House Report 108-456 to extend the current exemption of farm supply and agricultural commodity businesses from the "limited hours of service" drivers rules. The exemption, which is seasonal according to a determination made by each state, applies only during the planting and growing seasons. The amendmentalso clarifies the definition of "agricultural commodities" and "farm supplies for agriculture purposes.".
