Purpose
Amendment sought to establish new requirements governing the disposal of low-level radioactive waste. It would have: (1) removed class C and above radioactive wastes from State responsibility under the low-level waste disposal program; and (2) provided that low-level waste disposal facilities be located in areas of low population density which have limited potential for future population growth, and which are at least 5 kilometers away from urban residential property limits and from schools and other facilities which serve children.
