An amendment to establish new requirements governing low-level, radioactive waste storage. The amendment would remove "Class C" radioactive waste from the low-level waste disposal program, and require low-level waste storage sites to be located in areas of low population density with limited potential for additional growth and no less than five kilometers from urban residential property limits, schools, or other facilities which serve children.

- Purpose
- Amendment sought to establish new requirements governing the disposal of low-level radioactive waste. It would have: (1) removed class C and above radioactive wastes from State responsibility under the low-level waste disposal program; and (2) provided that low-level waste disposal facilities be located in areas of low population density which have limited potential for future population growth, and which are at least 5 kilometers away from urban residential property limits and from schools and other facilities which serve children.
